Roll Out Of The Government Cloud Update

Port Vila, 30 September 2025 – In a significant step toward accelerating the national digital transformation agenda, the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies (DCDT) has successfully concluded the first of a series of strategic workshops that will be held this week aimed at enabling the rollout of the Government Cloud.

These workshops mark critical milestones in the foundational pilot phase of the Government Cloud implementation:

  • Cloud Architecture Enablement: A technical workshop was held to establish the key cloud enablers required for cloud platform deployment. This sets the stage for the initial technical implementation and infrastructure design.
  • Data Classification Framework: A dedicated session focused on the development of a Data Classification Framework. This framework will guide the secure and compliant handling of data within the new cloud environment, ensuring robust data governance and risk mitigation.
  • Cloud Operating Model: Another workshop centred on defining the future operating model for the cloud function within DCDT. This model will underpin the effective rollout and long-term sustainability of the Government Cloud.

These engagements demonstrate the Department's commitment to building a secure, scalable, and future-ready digital government infrastructure. The Government Cloud is supported by the Australian Government through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), providing funding to support this important transformation, and delivered by CyberCX. It will enhance service delivery, strengthen resiliency, improve data management, further improve security and enable cross-departmental collaboration across all spheres of government.
